An artist of few words: Geno Genma

Hailing from Indonesia, our latest artist is Geno Genma. He describes himself as a friendly guy who doesn’t like to talk too much. So, we’ll just let you look at his beautiful, psychedelic art, for the most part.

For starters, where is exactly is Geno from? Well, it seems he’d rather not say. All he will tell us is that his small town is really quiet & peaceful and there are very few crowds & very little pollution. That’s good enough for us. When do we move there?

While he doesn’t have any formal academic training in art, Geno has an obvious natural talent which he supplemented with skills developed while working as a comic artist and later as a 2D and 3D animator and working on designs for metal bands.

Geno doesn’t have any set style to the art he creates, he says. Rather, he likes to dabble in whatever catches his fancy, whether it’s comic style, animation style, heavy metal gore style, street art and whatever he likes at the moment. The various styles can be seen in his artwork as well.

Geno creates his art in software as well as with real media such as paper, watercolours, ink and markers. When he is working digitally, his tools are a digital pen and Adobe Photoshop or Manga Studio. When he isn’t working or creating art, Geno’s favourite pastimes are watching movies or riding bikes.

Geno also lists a smorgasbord of topics from which he takes his influences and subjects for his art. Everything from pop-culture like gaming, films and television, to more serious topics like war. Sometimes the lines can get a bit blurry between his influences, like in ‘Headshot’.

However, some of Geno’s most visually striking as well as thematically powerful work deals purely with the terror of war, like ‘Hiroshima’.

But it isn’t all somber themes and poignant images in Geno’s work, thankfully. He also creates fantastical images with gorgeous psychedelic colours that are pure eye-candy like ‘Flower Head

Geno’s most colourful art looks best on our new line-up of Designer Clear Cases, that are available for iPhone 5/5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6 PLus, iPhone 6S Plus, the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2, OnePlus 3 and the Nexus 5 and Nexus 5X phones.
